About your Massage Therapist
My name is Nicki Ford, Licensed Massage and Bodywork Therapist and ACE Personal Trainer. I decided back in 2005 to pursue my lifelong passion of a career in Health and Wellness. I enrolled at Medical Arts School in Raleigh, graduated in May 2006 and have been practicing ever since.
I have worked at Day Spas in Raleigh and Cary including award winning Synergy Spa and The Umstead Hotel and Spa, a Leading Hotel and Spa of the World. During this time I have been able to develop skills in Swedish, Deep Tissue, Lomi Lomi, Hot Stone Therapy, Aromatherapy, Pregnancy and Sports Massage. Body Therapy experience includes body scrubs and wrap treatments.
After suffering from low back pain (sacroiliac joint dysfunction) I became very interested in finding natural ways of healing my injury. I am a firm believer that it is our responsibility to help our body stay healthy. Much like a car that needs regular maintenance the human body also needs to be taken care of in the form of regular exercise, good nutrition and bodywork like massage and chiropractic care.
Through Activities of Daily Living or injuries, our posture deteriorates with muscles overcompensating for others causing an imbalance, stress and chronic tightening or lengthening of muscle tissue. It is important to recreate symmetry and balance in the body. Massage can help with this.
With the busy lifestyles we lead nowadays, the restorative effects of quietening the body and mind on the table for 60 minutes can help repair and de-stress the body.
I find my career choice extremely rewarding and feel very fortunate to be able to help people find relief from tension, stress, aches and pains through bodywork. I look forward to working with you on your path to recovery.
